Kemin Industries Expands with New Facility in Russia
Kemin subsidiary will operate in Lipetsk as part of five-year, global expansion plan

Des Moines, Iowa (February 22, 2017) –  Kemin Industries, a global nutritional ingredient company that uses science to create solutions and products for half of the world’s population, will open its new Russia manufacturing facilities and office this April.

The new facility for the Kemin subsidiary, Kemin Industries (Lipetsk) LLC, will be located in the Special Economic Zone of Lipetsk. The state-of the-art facility features a manufacturing plant, administration offices and quality labs and warehouses, creating one of the most sophisticated plants in the Kemin portfolio. The new Russia location is part of the five-year, global expansion plan for Kemin.

“On a global scale, Kemin is aggressively pursuing expansions to meet our customers where they are to provide high-quality products and solutions,” said Dr. Chris Nelson, President and CEO of Kemin Industries. “We recognized a need in the Russia market to provide local, innovative ingredients. This expansion is an example of how Kemin thinks globally and acts locally to best serve our customers and the 3.4 billion people we touch every day with our products.”

With regional headquarters in Europe, Kemin has been selling feed ingredients in Russia for more than 20 years. In 2014, the company opened a fully equipped customer service laboratory in Moscow to better serve the feed industry and its growing customer base.

“By creating a facility with local manufacturing and research, Kemin can increase the collaboration between our scientists and the direct customers we serve in Russia,” said KP Philip, President of Kemin Animal Nutrition and Health. “Now, we can serve one of the largest animal feed markets in Europe with local availability of high-quality feed ingredients, condensed delivery time and reduction of risk with supply chain transportation; all which enables us to grow and better serve the Russian market.”

Construction of the Kemin facility began in spring 2016. Once construction is complete this April, Kemin will have the ability to manufacture specialty feed ingredients and will have additional space to add new lines of manufacturing and different classes of solutions to meet local needs. The facility creates approximately 40 new jobs in the Russian market.
