Kemin Textiles Donates €10’000 to the San Marino Hospital and Increases the Salaries of Employees Who Cannot Work From Home
These two initatives, made possible by the contribution of employees and support of Kemin, will serve to support San Marino patients with COVID-19

REPUBLIC OF SAN MARINO (April 17, 2020) – Kemin Textiles, a Kemin Industries business unit that owns the Garmon Chemicals brand, a leader in chemical solutions dedicated to garment finishing, has organized an internal fundraising campaign to support COVID-19 patients in San Marino.

The fundraising collected €10'000 and is the result of a donation by the company and voluntary contributions from employees and collaborators of a share of their April salaries. The sum collected will be donated to the Civil Protection of San Marino, the organization responsible for raising funds for the State Hospital, and will help medical and health personnel to treat COVID-19 patients at the facility.

Another initative, made possible with the support of Kemin, increases the salaries of employees who, due to the nature of their work, are unable to work from home. During the coronavirus emergency, these people will be paid a 50 percent higher daily wage for each day of work spent at the headquarters in Strada Acquasalata.

Finally, the company has provided free psychological support to employees who need help during the difficult emergency happening in San Marino and the Italian territory.

President Kimberly Nelson commented on the initatives implemented by the company, “Even though Kemin Textiles is part of a larger, American multinational group, we must always keep in mind the local realities where we operate and where some of our employees live – in this case, San Marino. It is important for us to recognize the spirit of community and to offer our contribution in any way possible.”

“In addition,” continues Nelson, “I am really proud of the hard work shown by our employees, those who go into work at the headquarters and those who work from home, and their dedication in continuing to serve our customers in this difficult moment.”

Since the end of February, Kemin Textiles, in accordance with the provisions of the San Marino decrees, has implemented a series of measures aimed at protecting the health of its employees: work from home, supply of PPE materials (masks, sanitizing gels, gloves) for those who go to work at the headquarters, checking employees’ temperatures upon entering work and sanitizing the work environments.

The further actions of fundraising and supprting employees with additional wages – extraordinary measures not foreseen by the decrees – underline the company’s attention toward its employees and the whole territory of San Marino.
