ZHUHAI, GUANGDONG (December 16, 2017) – Today Kemin Industries held a ceremony to celebrate reaching the company’s global vision and held a groundbreaking ceremony for its new research and development building in Zhuhai, Guangdong.
In 1998, Kemin announced its global vision to improve the quality of life by touching half the world’s population every day with its products and services. In August, this number reached 3.8 billion, more than half of the world's population. Kemin is proud to announce achieving this global vision.
"When the vision was put forward in 1998 for the first time, it seemed unachievable," said Dr. Chris Nelson, President and CEO of Kemin. "We insist on efforts by our global workforce to achieve this goal and to become leaders in the field by studying at the molecular level to provide safe, efficient and healthy solutions for humans and animals.”
As an important area in China, Kemin invested and set up a manufacturing facility in Zhuhai, Guangdong Province in 2000. Through this investment, Kemin implemented the global vision and a localization strategy to create a group of "special forces" teams that quickly established Kemin as a leader in providing products and solutions for the field of feed additives in China, and then became widely recognized by the market.
"The globalization advantage with Kemin has been achieved in China,” said Dr. Zhilin Gan, President of Kemin Animal Nutrition and Health, China. "In the past 10 years, we have been committed to outstanding products and solutions around the world. Locally, the Chinese have more animals and humans benefiting from our products and services.”
Kemin also held a ribbon cutting ceremony for its new research and development building in China. The building will be approximately 46,000 square feet and will house general labs, a microbiology lab, a sensory lab, a cell culture lab, a quality control lab, pilot labs, incubator rooms and a test kitchen. The new building is an estimated U.S.$10.2 million investment for the China Kemin office.
Dr. Zhilin Gan said although the current vision has been achieved, “We will continue our efforts to continue to serve our global customers, and look forward to working toward our next vision once it is announced.”
Since November, Kemin has held events in the U.S., Belgium, Singapore, South Africa and other parts of the world to celebrate reaching the vision. The China event included more than 350 Kemin team members, family and local government officials to celebrate the vision and groundbreaking.
