To secure feed hygiene, Kemin has recently registered Sal CURB B liquid in Russia. The feed chain is highly contaminated by Salmonella and other pathogenic micro-organisms, causing contamination in foods and foodborne diseases in humans. Pathogenic microbial contamination also affects animal performance, causing economic losses. The formulation of Sal CURB B is based on formaldehyde, propionic acid and surfactant agents. Various scientific studies have demonstrated that this specific combination has been shown to achieve the greatest decontamination of feed contaminated by Salmonella.

"Feed is a major source of pathogen contamination in the feed chain. Sal CURB B represents the most cost-effective solution to control pathogens in feedstuffs, proven by extensive trials that shows superior efficacy in reducing contamination by Salmonella in feed," said Carmen Coetzee, Product Manager. "Furthermore, Sal CURB B gives residual protection against recontamination."

Dr. Vet. Luis Conchello, Business Manager, Kemin Animal Nutrition and Health, further commented that,  "This solution performs more consistently and has superior decontamination compared with best alternatives available in the market. Kemin delivers all necessary associated services, comprised of the sealed-safe applicators; safety installation specifically designed for Sal CURB B (formaldehyde/organic acid based) use; and safety controls which preserve worker safety, assure correct application and efficacy, and minimize formaldehyde emissions into the environment."

A monitoring exposure control system of formaldehyde emissions is also delivered to effectively secure the safety of workers. Technical support on risk assessment and feed safety programme implementation, together with a sampling plan to the laboratory for solution monitoring, complete the basic associated services. Additionally, the product contains powerful surface-active agents to improve the dispersion of the antimicrobial, thereby improving efficacy. All ingredients are mixed in a low-surface tension carrier to achieve superior spreading effect.

"With this product, now Russian feed operators can have a total package to control safety," said Andrey Raskatov, Russia & CIS Area Manager, Kemin Animal Nutrition and Health. "Kemin offers a wide-range of Sal CURB products in the Russian market, including both formic-acid-based and formaldehyde-based Sal CURB products, and always synergistically combined with other active compounds. The "Feed Safety-Sal CURB" solution is a complete and customer-designed programme with all the essential support. Sal CURB is involved in interventions in the feed chain such as at extraction plants, rendering plants, feed mills, feed storage facilities, feed raw materials and finished feed."
